Bed Bugs Facts

Bed bugs are small, flat, oval-shaped and wingless, these are brown colour only but bodies become red after feeding, we can see easily adults only, newly hatched nymphs are very small (like head of a pin) and white color until they feed. Bedbugs don’t fly but they can move quickly on floors, wall and ceilings. Bedbugs do not have nests but live in groups in hiding places (especially where they have easy access to bite people in the night. Bedbugs are active mainly at night only, most commonly they occur on areas of skin that are exposed while sleeping, such as the face, arms, legs, and hands. They pierce the skin and withdraw the blood from the host body for about 3-12 minutes approximately. They can enter your house via clothing, luggage, bed, couches, etc. Their flat body enables them to hide in tiny space, cracks or holes. The bed bugs bites are generally painless, but may cause itchiness, swelling and redness.

Symptoms of bedbugs bite:

  • A bite with a red, swollen area and a dark red center.
  • Bites in a line or grouped together in a small area.
  • Blisters or hives at the bite site.
